Succesvolle acties tegen Voorpost in Maastricht

Zondag 1 maart vond een Maastricht een demonstratie van de extreemrechtse actiegroep Voorpost plaats. AFA organiseerde een demonstratie om het ware gezicht van Voorpost te laten zien en om duidelijk te maken dat desondanks het “nette” voorkomen van Voorpost er één ding duidelijk moet zijn: nette racisten bestaan niet! Er vonden verschillende acties plaats door heel Maastricht en langs de aanrij route van Voorpost.

Bij de start van de antifascistische betoging waren er ruim 400 antifascisten die tegen fascisme en rechtsextremisme demonstreerden. De stad was door de gemeente en de politie opgedeeld in twee zones, de oost oever voor de antifascistische demonstratie en de westoever voor de extreemrechtse demonstratie van Voorpost. Na een openingspraatje vertrok de stoet richting het Stationsplein waar een toespraak werd gehouden. Vervolgens trok de demonstratie verder naar Plein 1992. Ongeveer op de helft van de antifascistische demonstratie is op Plein 1992 geprobeerd door te breken naar de westoever, deze poging werd met geweld beantwoord door de politie. De antifascistische demonstranten weerden zich tegen de politie en het niet bijster slim geparkeerde politiebusje moest het ontgelden, de algemeen commandant kon er niet om lachen toen hem werd doorgegeven dat hij één busje minder paraat had. De ME probeerde de demonstranten op Plein 1992 in te sluiten maar dit lukte niet en de demonstratie ging verder door Maastricht. Op hetzelfde moment werden de Belgische bussen van Voorpost aan de grensovergang belaagd door antifascistische activisten, de eerste waarschuwing voor Voorpost. Eén Voorposter raakte hierbij gewond aan zijn hoofd en moest naar de eerste hulp.

Op het eindpunt van de demonstratie hield AFA nog een manifestatie. Helaas werd deze manifestatie gedurende 2 uur ingesloten door ME en agenten in burger. Op agressie vanuit de kant van de politie werd gepast gereageerd en enkele arrestaties werden voorkomen, helaas niet allemaal.
Gedurende de manifestatie druppelden de berichten van de westoever binnen. Voorpost was met in totaal zes (halfvolle) bussen (+/- 200 mensen) aangekomen op de Tongerseweg, vanaf waar hun drastisch ingekorte demonstratie startte. Overal rondom de demonstratie doken kleine groepen antifascisten op om Voorpost te blokkeren. Zitblokkades zorgden voor de nodige vertraging bij de volledig met ME omringde demonstratie van Voorpost en op de route doken antifascisten met spandoeken op. De extreemrechtse demonstratie werd geregeld stil gezet zodat de ME de route weer vrij kon maken van antifascisten, hierbij werden ook enkele arrestaties gemaakt. Uiteindelijk is er een klein rondje gelopen vanaf de Tongerseweg over Tongerseplein, Tongersestraat, Kakeberg, Looiersgracht, Grote Looierstraat, Kleine Grachtje/ Tafelstraat en weer terug naar de Tongersestraat. Het eindpunt van de demonstratie werd echter bezet door boze antifascisten waarop de Voorpost demonstranten 100 meter voor het eindpunt besloten op de grond te gaan zitten. Dit hielden ze een kwartiertje vol waarna de bussen gereed stonden om hen zo snel mogelijk af te voeren uit Maastricht. Bij het wegrijden van de bussen werden deze nog bekogeld door een woedende menigte, hierbij sneuvelde in ieder geval één busruit en liepen de bussen de nodige schade op. Hopelijk bedenken de busmaatschappijen zich de volgende keer twee keer voordat zij weer bussen verhuren aan de fascisten van Voorpost.

Na de Voorpost demonstratie volgde er bij de antifascistische manifestatie nog een kleine schermutseling wanneer agenten in burger toch probeerden een arrestatie te maken. De stillen trokken hier uiteindelijke aan het kortste eind en vluchtten weg. Het was geweldig om te zien dat zoveel mensen gehoor gaven aan onze oproep voor een geluid tegen Voorpost en dus tegen fascisme en vreemdelingenhaat. Eveneens was het goed te zien dat ook Maastrichtenaren zelf in opstand kwamen tegen Voorpost en zelf met eigen acties hebben geprobeerd wat ze konden om Voorpost te stoppen en het lopen onmogelijk te maken. Er is luid en duidelijk gebleken dat extreemrechts niet welkom is in Maastricht. Burgemeester Leers heeft aangegeven geen extremistische demonstraties meer toe te laten in Maastricht. Wij zijn blij dat er Leers voornemens is in ieder geval geen fascistische demonstraties meer in Maastricht te laten plaatsvinden. Wel vinden wij het apart dat ook antiracisme door Leers als extremistisch wordt gezien, tegen racisme en fascisme zijn is niet extreem. Wij blijven antifascisme zien als een verantwoordelijkheid van iedereen!

Tot slot de mededeling dat alle arrestanten sinds maandagavond vrij zijn. Verder roepen wij iedereen die gearresteerd is deze middag op om zich te melden bij onze arrestantengroep en/of advocaat (indien dit nog niet is gebeurd). Dit geldt voor alle antifascistische demonstranten van die dag, dus was jij niet bij de demonstratie maar ben je aan de westoever opgepakt of ben je een boze buurtbewoner die last heeft gekregen van de politie? Bel dan naar de arrestantengroep op 06-20281357. Zij zullen dan kijken wat er kan worden gedaan voor jou en je juridische hulp verlenen. Je kunt ook mailen naar de arrestantgeroep op utrecht(a t)arrestantengroep.org. Dit geldt ook voor mensen die mogelijk de komende dagen nog opgepakt worden, zoals de politie heeft aangekondigd. Als dit gebeurt laat dit ons dan ook direct weten op afa(a t)afanederland.org.

Wij willen iedereen bedanken die deze dag heeft bijgedragen aan een succesvol tegengeluid tegen fascisme, racisme, discriminatie en vreemdelingenhaat. We hopen alle aanwezigen ook bij een volgend protest tegen extreemrechts weer te zien, samen sterk tegen fascisme!

Succesfull actions against Voorpost in Maastricht!

On Sunday the 1st of march a demonstration by the rightwing extremist group Voorpost took place. The Antifascist Action (AFA) had organized a demonstration in order to show the true face of Voorpost and to make clear that despite the “decent” appearance of Voorpost one thing must be clear: Decent racists don’t excist! There were several actions being held through the whole of Maastricht and at the route the busses of Voorpost were taking to get to their demonstration.

At the start of the demonstration there were over 400 antifascist who were protesting against fascism and rigthwing extremism. The city was divided into two zones by the police and the city council, the east bank for the antifascist demonstration and the west bank for the right wing extremist demonstration by Voorpost. The demonstration strated and proceeded to the Stationsplein where the first speech was being held. After that the group went on to “Plein 1992”. At Plein 1992 antifascists tried to break through to the other side of the river, this attempt was given a violent response by the police. The antifascist protesters fought back and defended themselves and a not that brightly parked policevan got smashed. The officer in chief didn’t thought it was funny when he heard he had one van less for the day. Riotcops tried to close the antifascist protesters in at Plein 1992 but they failed and the demonstration went on. At the same time Belgian busses with Voorpost members in them were attacked by antifascist activitst, the first warning of the day for Voorpost. One Voorpost member got wounded in the during the attack and had to go to the hospital for first aid.

At the endingpoint of the demonstration AFA held a manifestation. Unfortunately this manifestation was closed in by riot cops and civil cops for two hours. People reacted appropriately on police violence and several arrests were prevented, however unfortunately not all of the arrests were prevented.
During the manifestation messages from the other side of the river started coming in. Voorpost had arrived with a total of six (half-full) busses (+/- 200 people) at the Tongerseweg. From there their drasticly shortened demonstration started. Everywhere around their demonstration small groups of antifascist appeared to block Voorpost. Sitblockades took care of some delay of the, completely by riotcops surrounded, Voorpost demonstration. On the route several antifascist held up banners. The fascist demonstration was being stopped occasionly to continue when the riot cops had “cleared” the route again, a few arrest were made on the route.
In the end Voorpost walked a small round from the Tongerseweg to the Tongerseplein, Tongersestraat, Kakeberg, Looiersgracht, Grote Looierstraat, Kleine Grachtje/ Tafelstraat and back to the Tongersestraat. The ending point of the fascist demonstration was being occupied by angry antifascist, Voorpost responded by sitting down 100 meter befor the end of their demonstration. The kept this up for about 15 minutes when the busses arrived to take Voorpost out of Maastricht as soon as possible. When the busses drove away they were attacked by angry antifascist who threw stones at them and damaged several busses and destroyed one window. Hopefully buscompanies will think twice in the future before facilitating fascists again.

The Voorpost demonstration was marked by a fascist vision on drugs and the human body where drugsaddicts are weak and must be eliminated from society (this vision comes back in the Voorpost slogan “verslaafde ratten rol uw matten” which translates to “addicted rats pack your bags and leave”. There is no consideration whatsoever for the different effects drugs have on different individuals and the different consequences of drugs on different individuals.

After the Voorpost demonstration there were a few skirmishes at the antifascist demonstration when civil cops tried to make an arrest. The civil cops weren’t tolerated and fled. It was great to see so many people coming together to make a fist against Voorpost and thereby against fascism and racism. It was also great to see so many antifascist from Maastricht getting in action against Voorpost and trying to stop Voorpost by their own means. It is loud and clear that Voorpost isn’t welcome in Maastricht. Mayor Leers has said that he won’t allow any extremist demonstrations in Maastricht anymore. We are glad that Leers doesn’t allow any fascist demonstrations to happen anymore in Maastricht. We do think it is strange that Leers sees antiracism and antifascism as extremist too. Being against racism and fascism isn’t extreme! We keep seeing antifascism as a responsibility for everybody!

Alle people that got arrested are free since mondaynight. We call everybody who got arrested during or after the demonstration to contact the legal team and the lawyer (unless people already have done this). This goes for all antifascist protesters that were active that day, it doesn’t matter wether you got arrested at the demonstration or at near Voorpost or if you are a angry inhabitent of Maastricht who got harrassed by the cops. We would like to thank everybody who contributed to a succesfull protest against fascism, racism, nationalism and xenophobia. We hope to see all people who were in Maastricht back again at the next protest against rightwing extremism, fight along against fascism!

Afgelopen 3 weken heeft AFA in 3 landen 15 infoavonden gehouden. De infoavonden waren een groot succes. We hebben veel verschillende mensen in Nederland, Duitsland en België op de hoogte gebracht van het racistische karakter van de extreem rechtse actiegroep voorpost.
Een ander doel van de infoavonden was natuurlijk mensen mobiliseren voor de grote antifascistische demonstratie in Maastricht op 1 maart. Vanuit veel plekken maken mensen zich klaar om naar onze demonstratie in Maastricht te gaan op 1 maart.
In de loop van deze week zal op www.stopvoorpost.nl meer informatie over de demonstratie verschijnen! Tot zondag 1 maart!

The last 3 weeks AFA has provided 15 lectures in 3 different countries. The lectures were a great succes. We have created allot of awareness about the racist character of the right-wing extremist group voorpost.
Another goal of the lectures was to mobilise people for the big antifascist demonstration in Maastricht on the 1st of march. From allot of places people are preparing to get to Maastricht on the 1st of march.

1 maart wil de extreem rechtse organisatie voorpost in Maastricht gaan demonstreren. Wij willen dit verhinderen, doe met ons mee en maak een vuist tegen extreem rechts!
Voorpost is een internationale organisatie met afdelingen in België, Nederland en Zuid-Afrika. Deze demonstratie wordt georganiseerd door de Nederlandse en de Belgische afdelingen van voorpost. Leden van andere fascistische organisaties hebben al aangegeven mee te willen demonstreren en delegaties van andere groepen plannen om ook naar Maastricht af te reizen. Zo wordt er ook door het Vlaams Belang, door de fascistische studentenvereniging NSV opgeroepen om te komen en zal de nazistische NVU ook met een delegatie op de demonstratie aanwezig zijn. Wij willen niet alleen voorkomen dat er op 1 maart een extreem rechtse demonstratie plaatsvindt, wij willen ook voorkomen dat er betere (internationale) banden komen tussen verschillende groepen rechts-extremisten. The 1st of march the right wing extremist organisation voorpost wants to have a demonstration in Maastricht. We want to prevent this from happening, join us and make a fist against right-wing extremism. Voorpost is an international organisation with chapters in the Netherlands, Belgium and South-Africa. This demonstration is organized by the Dutch and Belgian chapters of voorpost. Members of other fascist organisations have said they will join the demonstration of voorpost and delegations of other groups have also announced their appearance in Maastricht. The Vlaams Belang and the fascist fraternity NSV are also calling people to come and the nazist party the NVU is also comming with a delegation. We don't only want to prevent this right wing extremist demonstration from happening, we also want to prevent the establishment of better (international) connections between different groups of rigth wing extremists.

Am 1. März will die extrem rechte Organisation Voorpost in Maastricht gegen die niederländischen Drogengesetze demonstrieren. Wir werden das verhindern, denn rechte Organisationen haben keinen Platz in Maastricht und nirgendwo. Mach mit, zeig deine Faust gegen Rechts!
Voorpost ist eine internationale extrem rechte Organisation mit Mitgliedern in Belgien, Holland und Südafrika. Nun organisieren Voorpost-Nederland und Voorpost-Belgien gemeinsam diese Demonstration, zu der auch andere faschistische Organisationen eingeladen werden. Wir wollen nicht nur verhindern, das die Demonstration stattfindet, sondern auch der internationalen Zusammenarbeit zwischen den verschiedenen extrem rechten Gruppen eine Niederlage verpassen.

Le dimanche 1 mars, le groupe activiste d'extrême droite voorpost organise une grande manifestation, soi-disant contre les politique des drogues en Hollande. En Réalité, avec ce genre d'action, les membres de voorpost cherchent à influencer l'opinion publique, à diviser la société et à se servir de l'occasion pour exprimer leur haine contre tous ceux et toutes celles qui, à leurs yuex ne sont pas "Neerlandais".
Les voorpost est un groupe activiste ultranationaliste, le racisme est à la base de son idéologie.
À première vue l'organisation donne une apparance modérée, mais leurs points de vue pro apartheid et clairement anti-immigrants et anti-islam montrent leur vrai visage. De plus, voorpost a des contacts avec les milieux néonazis et etretient des liens avec les blood & honour, dont certains membres sont impliqués dans des graffitis et incendies antisémites.
Un grand nombre de millitants d'extrême driote venant de Hollande et de Flandres sont attendus pour cette manifestation. Par exemple, les néonazis de Nederlandse VolksUnie (NVU), le Vlaams Belang et le Nationalistische Studenten Vereniging (NSV) ont déja exprimé leur soutien à cette manifestation.
Nous pensons qu'il est totalement absurde de donner au voorpost la permissions d'organiser une telle démonstration de leurs ideés extrémistes, leur permettant ainsi d'exprimer librement leurs propos inacceptables.
La liberté d'expression s'arrête là où le racisme et la discrimination commencent; des racistes convenables n'existent pas!
Venez nombreux vous faire entendre contre l'extrême driote!
